How to install (30 seconds)
Until we publish to the Chrome Web Store, install it as an "unpacked" extension. Same security as store extensions — you just point Chrome at the folder.
- 1Download & unzip
Click the download button above and unzip googlesitescore-extension.zip anywhere on your computer.
- 2Open chrome://extensions
Paste chrome://extensions into your Chrome address bar (or edge://extensions in Edge).
- 3Enable Developer mode
Flip the Developer mode toggle in the top-right corner of the extensions page.
- 4Click "Load unpacked"
A new button appears in the top-left. Click it and select the unzipped extension folder.
- 5Pin to toolbar
Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar and pin GoogleSiteScore for one-click access.
Privacy & permissions
The extension uses activeTab and scripting permissions only — it reads the page you're currently looking at when you open the popup, and nothing else.
No data leaves your browser. All SEO checks run locally on the page you're viewing. We don't collect, log, or transmit any URLs, page contents, or analytics. The only network request happens when you click "Run Full Audit" — which opens a new tab on GoogleSiteScore.com.
Source is plain JavaScript — manifest.json, popup.html, popup.css, popup.js. Open it and read every line.
